Nine Hours of Commercials? No THANKS!

Along with several other Citroenistas, we managed to avoid what is now the SECOND biggest scam perpetrated on the American Public. No prizes for guessing #1.

Yes, it was time for our Annual Stupid Bowel Drive!

We gathered for breakfast at Legends on Route 66 in Glendora. A nice '50s themed eatery with pretty good food. Although we only had four cars, we'd meet several other devoted Froggy Car Fans in Julian.

Nora, Meaghan, and Yung met us for breakfast, but not the drive.

That's right, home of THE best Apple Pies and really good hard cider. Actually, since parking in Julian itself is scarce, we went to the satellite Mom's Pies in Wynola, just up the road from the town. That's also where the Julian Hard Cider Company has a store. A Twofer!

Chuck and Tina managed to keep up on the twisties!

The drive (as pretty much all SoCal drives) involves a LOT of freeway, the road up to Julian is worth it. Great twists and a few climbs (Julian is about 4000 feet above sea level--hence the ability to grow apples!) and a chance to click the Yellow Submarine suspension up a notch to firm things up.

That famous Comic Duo, Bruo and Robert!

What the?

Ah, that explains it!

We grabbed a whole dozen ciders (all the kids wanted some, so, as good parental units, we complied--they DID pay though) then went to Mom's for lunch. We had the beef empanadas, others opted for chicken pot pies, or just PIE! Mom's DOES make the best pies since Great-Grandma Guisto's. We got FOUR pies. Yes, our kids wanted their own too. One regular apple, one Dutch apple, and a pair of cherry/apples!

The drive back was as you'd expect, more twisties, to the town of Ramona (gotta explore that place, it looks kinda cool), then to the I-15 and home. AND NO TRAFFIC! Even on the Dreaded 210!

A great day, and great people. Here's the route, and a bonus a link to a YouTube video we did a few years ago.
